2009-2010 Flu Tracker Project
The 2009 H1N1 Influenza A pandemic emerged in Mexico in March and April of 2009. By mid-June of that year, all 50 states reported H1N1 activity.
More than 45% of U.S. physicians use Epocrates clinical software to reference prescribing and safety information, including flu treatment and prevention recommendations. To promote awareness and explore correlations with flu activity, Epocrates gathered data on the number of times doctors referenced the flu drug oseltamivir (Tamiflu¨) prescribing information in its handheld product.
The dynamic map tracks aggregated number of oseltamivir look-ups in Epocrates Rx¨ by physicians during a given week divided by the number of physicians actively using Epocrates in that region.
The flu tracker map is based on aggregated data. Epocrates is committed to protecting privacy and does not sell or share personally identifiable information.
