Access Formularies On Your Mobile Device
- If you are currently using Epocrates software on a PDA or smartphone, you can add formularies for free. If you do not use our mobile software and you have a mobile device, you can download the Epocrates Rx drug reference for free at http://www.epocrates.com/products/rx/.
- Sign into your Account at www.epocrates.com.
- Click “Edit Formularies”.
- Select your State and a formulary category (e.g., Health Plans) and view “Available Formularies”.
To add Medicare Part D formularies: Select either the "Medicare Part D - PDP" category (Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Program (MA-PD) formularies) or "Medicare Part D - MA" category (Medicare Advantage formularies).
- Click on a formulary and click “Add” to add it to your formulary profile. You may select as many formularies as you like (providing you have enough memory on your device) and you may edit your formulary list as often as you like.
- Below the “Formularies On My Device” list you will see the approximate memory requirement for your selected formularies. Please make sure you have enough free memory to download your selected formularies.
- Click “Save”.
- AutoUpdate (sync your device while connected to the Internet) to install the formularies on your device.
- Launch the Epocrates application and tap on the Rx tab (Windows Mobile Smartphone/BlackBerry – just launch the Epocrates application).
Choose a formulary from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen to view formulary coverage.
- You will see a formulary code, e.g., 3PA, next to each drug (the same code also appears at the top of the screen for each monograph). If a code is bolded, important prescribing information is available.
Tap on it to view the explanation of the formulary code as well as any detailed information provided by the payer.
Select “Tap here for Alternatives” (or "View Alternatives") for a list of alternative treatments in the same therapeutic class, sorted by formulary status (to sort the list alphabetically tap “By Drug”).
- Tap on a code to view the insurance information, or tap on a drug name to go to the monograph. You can also go straight to the class list by selecting “By Class” from your Rx home screen.
