500,000 Courses Completed Through Epocrates' Mobile CME Service
Physicians Can Now Take State-Required CME Courses on Their Handhelds

WHAT: Mobile continuing medical education (CME) is rapidly becoming one of the preferred ways for physicians to keep current and earn their educational credits. More than 500,000 CME courses have been completed through Epocrates’ free MobileCME program for handheld devices in the past two years. Epocrates MobileCME allows physicians to earn their required credits anytime, anywhere.

Today Epocrates unveiled a new State-Required CME Channel. Sixteen states require doctors to complete CME on specific topics (i.e. child abuse, risk management, domestic violence, pain control, end-of-life care). These educational credits are often hard to find, even online, and are rarely free. Now medical professionals can take many of these via Epocrates MobileCME for no charge.

Epocrates MobileCME content is developed by faculty at top U.S. academic medical centers and other institutions, including Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Massachusetts Medical Society (publishers of the New England Journal of Medicine and Journal Watch), the American College of Cardiology and the National Kidney Foundation. Courses are available in clinical areas such as cardiology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, oncology and psychiatry.

HOW: Epocrates MobileCME courses consist of an easy-to-read educational article followed by a brief post-test. After successfully completing the post-test of up to ten questions, the physician can submit the activity through Epocrates for CME credit. New CME courses are automatically downloaded when users synchronize their devices. The mobile functionality of the program enables doctors to start CME courses on their own time and complete the course work at their own pace, with no need to be connected to any system.

New: Epocrates recently introduced the CME Tracker to make it even easier for physicians to keep track of their MobileCME courses and credits. Users log into their Epocrates account and click on the “CME” tab in order to access a summary of their CME credits, courses available and taken, and to print completion certificates.
