Epocrates Appoints Rick Van Hoesen as New CFO

Epocrates, Inc., a developer of mobile and online healthcare applications, today announced the appointment of Rick Van Hoesen as the company’s new chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance. Van Hoesen joins Epocrates with 25 years of experience in finance, operations, information systems management and investor relations at public and private companies.

“Rick Van Hoesen has great leadership skills and expertise that will help support our company’s continued rapid growth,” said Kirk Loevner, chairman and chief executive officer of Epocrates. “Rick’s extensive CFO experience will be an invaluable resource as we develop the corporate infrastructure, processes and controls necessary to support our growing network of healthcare professionals and industry partners.”
 
Van Hoesen most recently served as CFO of NetIQ Corporation, a publicly held, $265 million-revenue enterprise software company acquired by Attachmate Corporation for $495 million in June 2006. During his tenure, Van Hoesen drove the successful implementation of the company’s Sarbanes-Oxley compliant controls environment and numerous operational improvements.

Prior to NetIQ, Van Hoesen served as CFO for privately held XACCT Technologies, where he raised more than $50 million in private equity and drove substantial improvements in the company’s financial and systems infrastructure. He has also served as CFO at Micro Focus and Wall Data, and held senior management positions at publicly-traded companies, including Sun Microsystems and Teradata of NCR Corporation.

Van Hoesen earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Lehigh University and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
